Dawn Turner B.A (Hons)

Founder & Operations Director

A mother of two serving soldiers (One now a Veteran) understands the difficulties the Armed Forces personnel face when adjusting to civilian life. She dedicated most of her adult life in the caring/nursing profession. She holds a B.A. Honours degree in Criminology and specialised in veteran’s mental health in relation to adaption. Moreover, previous roles as a caseworker and fundraiser with various military charities, she offers lots of experience in supporting veterans in civilian life.

Perminder Kundi

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Has been self-employed for the last twenty years and has vast experience in business affairs. Hence it was natural he fell into the role of CEO for STEPWAY. He holds an accredited landlord’s licence with Worcester City Council and highly regarded within the housing agencies. He has worked within the homeless sector for many years by providing support and a safe haven for some people who had no-where else to turn.

Chris Mitchell

“I served 20 years, as a Major in the REME. Upon leaving I became a Company Director working in Defence and Aerospace Industry and have 15 Years business experience in the global industry. I am now a pro-active City Councillor, STEPWAY team member, the Armed Forces Champion for Worcester and run my own business”.

“I am a Worcester City Councillor, Chairman of the Conservative Association. My grandfather fought in Dunkirk, and very often told us stories about the horrors of war and the impact it had on mental health. Therefore, I have a keen interest in the well-being of the veteran community. I am also STEPWAY’s Data Protection Officer

Dave Carney

“I Served as a reserve with the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers for 7 and a half years. I qualified as an Accountant in 2014 and set up my own micro-practice in Worcester. I am the Founder and organiser of the Worcester Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club (AFVBC) . I became a Parish Councillor in May 2019. And a season ticket holder at Worcester Warriors”

Michael O’Connell

Trustee and Compliance Officer

” I come from a long military background, father 22 years service (RAF and Army REME), both grandfathers also served.I served for 10 years in the Royal Military Police, last 3 years in the Special Investigation BranchServed for 10 years in Hampshire Constabulary, 3 years as a Community Beat Officer, 4 years with Special branch. Whilst seconded to New Scotland Yard I was the home office liaison for all UK forces SB departments. Currently working as an investigator with the Gangmasters, and Labour Abuse Authority, dealing with forced labour, worker exploitation and modern day slavery. Focusing on compliance of businesses trading in high risk sectors”.

Kevin Gale

Trustee and Fundraiser

“I served in the Royal Artillery for 17 years, upon leaving I joined the team at Tesco’s and became a line manager. I live in Kidderminster where I am a town councillor, and my wife Nicky is the Armed Forces Champion for the area. I became involved with STEPWAY early last year and now the volunteer local coordinator for Wyre Forest”.

On the 13th March 2020 STEPWAY signed the Armed Forces Covenant Pledge. We are delighted to receive the Bronze award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

In 2021 STEPWAY will be working towards the Silver award.
